Evaluation of the investigation of obliterated identification numbers by German experts

On the 6th and 7th of October, Michael Braune and Dirk Herrmann, two German forensic experts in the examination of obliterated identification numbers from the Bundeskriminalamt, visited the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB). This visit was one of a number of significant exchange visits between the SFSB and forensic laboratories in Europe and is a significant component of the current Norwegian Financial Instrument supported project.

The SFSB signs a Memorandum of Understanding

On March 27 Latvia’s State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Norway’s National Criminal Investigations Service (NCIS/KRIPOS) in order to establish a mutually beneficial relationship between the two organization by exchanging information and knowledge in areas of mutual interest. This MOU is a component in the implemention of the Norwegian Finance Mechanism funded project (co-funded by the Government of Latvia) “Strengthening the Judiciary in Latvia by Improving Capacity of the State Forensic Science Bureau of Latvia in Order to Comply with Best Practice and International Quality Standards”.

Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia visit the SFSB

H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre and H.E. Mr. Nils Olav Stava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Latvia visited Latvia’s State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) on Friday, November 14, 2008 to view progress at the project supported by the Government of Norway through a grant from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
