The SFSB Deputy Director appointed in the EFSA 2020 Task Force

The Deputy Director of the SFSB Raimonds Apinis has been appointed by the Board of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) to participate in the ENFSI “EFSA 2020 Task Force”. The Task Force is intended to carry out a detailed evaluation of the European Council Conclusions and draw up a corresponding implementation plan.

ENFSI EPG WG MEETING in Riga

The 22nd Annual Meeting of the ENFSI Paint and Glass (EPG) Working Group was held in Riga from 19-21 September 2016. The EPG meeting was organized and hosted by the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB), bringing together 63 forensic experts from 23 European countries and the USA. Latvia was represented by the Head of the SFSB Biological and Chemical Investigations Department M.Rēpele.

SFSB experts participate in a security dyes workshop in Ljubljana

The SFSB Director of the Document Investigation Department and a senior forensic expert from the Biological and Chemical Investigation department participated in a security dyes examination workshop which was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 28-30 June 2016 within a framework of the EU co-funded “SEcurity DYes” (SEDY) project devoted to facilitating co-operation between forensic laboratories, producers and law enforcement institutions in the field of examination of security dyes.

The meeting of the ENFSI Monopoly Programme 2014 project “Towards the Development of Pan-European Databases in Forensic Science” Activity N5 was held in Dusseldorf from 7-10 June 2016. Director of the SFSB Document Investigation Department participated in the meeting. The activity N5 is implemented within the framework of the ENFSI European Document Examination Working Group with participation of 18 forensic science institutions. Latvia is represented by the State Forensic Science Bureau.
