This week, as part of the exchange program of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), a forensic expert from the Forensic Science Institute of State Criminal Office of Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz is visiting the State Forensic Science Bureau. The purpose of the visit is to exchange experience in the fields of plant examination and non-human DNA.
The forensic examination of DNA of non-human origin is a new area of forensic science with great potential for development. The State Forensic Science Bureau is the first forensic laboratory in the Baltic States offering this type of examination.
