On 12-13 September, 2024, the 19th Baltic and Nordic Handwriting Experts Conference took place in Riga, with participation of handwriting experts from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Organized by the handwriting experts at the State Forensic Science Bureau, this year’s conference focused on identifying risk factors and implementing preventive measures in expert work.
The core purpose of the conference transcends merely acquiring theoretical knowledge; it prioritizes addressing practical challenges and engaging in meaningful discussions. Additionally, it offers an opportunity for participants to contribute to the formulation of key decisions and discussions concerning the quality of handwriting examination, as well as the prevention and minimization of potential risks in their day-to-day activities.
