This week, from June 10 - 14, we are hosting colleagues from the National Scientific Centre “Hon. Prof. M.S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute” in Kharkiv for an experience exchange visit. During the experience exchange visit, support is provided to Ukrainian colleagues in the field of handwriting and signature examination, questioned documents, fingerprint examination, gunshot residues and metal (ammunition) examination.
This is the third of the experience exchange visits planned in the project "Support for Ukrainian Forensic Experts in documentation of the war crimes committed by the Russian Federation " (ForUkraine). Previously, two expert experience exchange visits have taken place, one of them at the State Forensic Science Bureau in Riga, and the other - at the Estonian Forensic Science Institute in Tallinn.
In the ForUkraine project, the SFSB supports Kharkiv forensic experts with
• necessary equipment and materials;
• experience exchange visits;
• assistance in the development and testing of new forensic methods.
The project ForUkraine or " Support for Ukrainian Forensic Experts in documentation of the war crimes committed by the Russian Federation " received funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2023 from the development cooperation budget.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies do significant work in documentation and investigation of the war crimes committed by the Russian Federation. Forensic experts make a significant contribution to this process.
