The first forensic science institution in Latvia, now known as the State Forensic Science Bureau, was founded exactly 103 years ago, on October 10, 1921, when the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia decided to establish the Institute of Forensic Examinations. The aforementioned period of Latvian history was filled with momentous occasions: the War of Independence had just come to a close, a peace treaty between Latvia and Russia had been signed, Latvia had been admitted to the League of Nations, and its sovereignty had been acknowledged. These events not only marked the birth of a new nation but also laid the groundwork for modern forensic science in Latvia.
On this occasion, we would like to congratulate our clients, cooperation partners, and State Forensic Science Bureau staff members, both past and present!
