On 2-3 February 2021 Director of SFSB M.Čentoricka and Deputy Director R.Apinis are taking part in the conference devoted to the use of facial recognition in criminal investigation. The conference is held in the framework of the EU funded project “Towards the European Level Exchange of Facial Images“ (TELEFI project).
The objective of the project is to do a study on how facial recognition is currently being used for the investigation of crime across EU Member State and possibilities for further facial data exchange between EU member states. Project's website: www.telefi-project.eu.
The TELEFI project is being conducted by a group of six European institutions: Estonian Forensic Science Institute, Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, Finnish National Bureau of Investigation, Latvian State Forensic Science Bureau, Netherlands Forensic Institute and Swedish National Forensic Centre.
The project is funded by the European Union’s Internal Security Fund - Police.
